Entanglements

Annie: "Ahhhh! The best part of the day. I love my walk."
Cookie: "It is nice to get a breath of fresh air!"Annie: "When I first came to live with this family, I was afraid of the leash."

Jackie: "That's right, until you figured out that the leash meant a nice walk on cool grass." Annie: "It didn't take me long."Jackie: "Pssst! Cookie, let's give these kids some entanglement practice."Cookie: "I don't know, Jackie. The kids don't like entanglements."

Jackie: "But I love to give them a challenge!"
Cookie: "Okay, here goes." Valerie: "James! There they go....Entanglement!"James: "Oh no, not again! Why do they do this?"Valerie: "There. Got it straight again."
Cookie: "That didn't take them long to untangle us this time.

Jackie: "They are getting good....we will have to think of something new to train them at."
Annie: "Well, maybe we can walk on in peace today. I want to do a little quiet sniffing." Jackie: "Yeah, there are some good things to smell out here in the grass!"

The Proactive Approach

Jackie: "What ya doin' there Cook?"
Cookie: "Well, James is a nice boy, and I think if I sit here he will give me a little piece of that food."

Jackie: "You are doing it all wrong. You have to take a more proactive approach."

Cookie: "What is a proactive approach?"

Jackie: "Well, that is when you take matters in your own paws instead of leaving it to the boy."

Cookie: "I like would like that.....I think I would like that....I don't want to get kicked out to the yard."

Jackie: "Don't worry about a thing. Now watch the master at work."
Jackie: "First, you need to carefully check out what he is eating. If he is doing homework then you are wasting your time....let me see."

Cookie: "I think he is eating a sandwich."

Jackie: "Yes, it is a sandwich; perfect."Jackie: "Then you need to go around to his blind side and make yourself invisible. Stealth is the key here."

Cookie: "Like a CAT?"

Jackie: "Don't be insulting! Absolutely not! Like a WOLF!"

Cookie: "Sorry."

Jackie: "Like I said, you have to make yourself invisible.
Jackie: "Then carefully zero in on the target."
Jackie: "Aim carefully because there will only be one chance here."
Jackie: "Silence....stealth.....wait just for the right moment and......"

Jackie: "SNAP!!!!!"Cookie: "Well done Jackie!"

Jackie: "Thanks! Mmmmm good sandwich."

James: "JACKIE!!!!!!"

Annie: "Oh, don't move and wake James up."

Jackie: "I think it is time jump out of this bed and to get this day started!!!!!!"Annie: "That is nice. You go ahead and get your day started.....I am going to stay right here for awhile. I like snuggling with a warm boy."

Nests

Jackie: "I like making myself a nice comfortable nest to rest in. This rocking chair is nice....it is up off the floor so no one will step on me."

Annie: "I know what you mean. Here is a nest I made on a blanket Mama left on her bed....so comfortable."

Annie: "And here is a nest I made another day."

Jackie: "Nice one."

Cookie: "I can make nests too, but I like this bed."

I have a Fancy New Trick!

Jackie: "I am very proud of myself. Master Man taught me this fancy new trick. I can balance this thing on my head like this."

Annie: "Wow Jackie, that is very impressive."

Cookie: "Yes, very. I know some tricks, but nothing so fancy as balancing a....a....what is that thing anyway?"

Jackie: "It is a special ball for balancing on a head."

Cookie: "Really....who would balance that on their head besides you."

Jackie: "Well....I am not really sure. All I know is that I do a very fancy job of balancing it. I think that most dogs and people just can't balance this special ball like me."

Annie: "Such a talent must be very rare."

Jackie: "Yes, I am sure it is.

How About a Little Snack?

Jackie: "Hi ya James! What ya got there?"

James: "I'm just having a quick after-school snack before I start my homework."

Jackie: "How about sharing a little with me?"

James: "Jackie, you are on a diet; I can't share."

Jackie: "Oh pleeeeease! Who is your very best pal? Me!"

James: "You are my best pal, but no, Jackie."

Jackie: "How about if I dance around like this?"

James: "That is very nice dancing around, but no, Jackie."

Jackie: "How about if I sit up and beg really cute like this?"
James: "Sorry, Jackie."

Jackie: "Nuts."

Quiet Weekend

Jackie: "It has been a quiet weekend. Where did James go?" Annie: "James and Mama went on a two-night backpacking trip with the Boy Scouts and Valerie and Master Man have been busy with their own pursuits."

Jackie: "Well, I guess the good news is that there will be some really filthy dirty clothes in the laundry when James and Mama get home."

Annie: "Yes, some VERY dirty socks and other stinky things."

Jackie: "Ooooh, my favorite!"

Computer Virus Blues

Jackie: "I am sure there is a song that we can sing called 'Oh I got the Computer Virus Blues.'" I had to sneak over to the neighbors' house to post this."

Cookie: "Boy, didn't Mama make a fuss when she saw that our computer was trying to send vulgar emails to strangers."

Jackie: "Yeah, she doesn't like our computer sending email on its own....she probably doesn't like dogs using the computer either, but she doesn't know."

Cookie: "Jackie, how is your diet going?"

Jackie: "It is going GREAT! Grandma Pat is here for a few days to see the kids and SHE FEEDS ME! Grandma knows how to treat a dog right!"

Cookie: "Uh oh, I hear people coming! We had better make tracks out of here before they catch us at their computer."

Jackie: "Do you think we could stop in their kitchen on the way out and get a little something to eat?"

Cookie: "We had better be fast!"

Breakfast

Jackie: "Breakfast time!!! It's 5:30 a.m. and it's BREAKFAST TIME! I like to start my day out early with a nice meal and then go back to bed."

Cookie: "Me too! Don't forget your diet, Pup....you are on a diet, remember?"

Jackie: "Oh yeah, but maybe our server will forget."

Cookie: "No, it doesn't look like she forgot. Mine is the red bowl, Annie's is in the middle, and ...."
Jackie: "Oh, Winnie-the-POOH, she didn't forget."

Annie: "At least you get something. You know that for breakfast Mama only gives us a snack. We have our main meal in the afternoon. Only Cookie gets her main meal in the morning because of errr...yard habits."

Cookie: "I am a senior dog and I am proud of it!"Cookie: "Jackie, you can eat your food fast or you can eat it slow, but you aren't eating any of my food."
Jackie: "Cookie, how about just a few pieces. You have plenty to share there."

Cookie: "Get away. I don't have to share my food. Mama measures the food especially for each one of us. You are done."
Jackie: "But look. Mine is all gone."
Annie: "You should have taken your time and not bolted your eight pieces down so fast."

Jackie: "Oh come on! Dogs bolt their food!"

Cookie: "Not me. I like to sit when I eat and take my time. It is better for my digestion and my yard habits."

Cookie: "Okay I am all done, you can lick the bowl. There will still be a taste in there."

Jackie: "(Grump, hrrump) You didn't leave much did you.....All I can smell is your breath......Diets!.......When is dinner? I don't see how I am going to survive; I am sure I will have starved by this afternoon."
